Provincial Election :

It will happen on November 30th 2015
District Returning Offices :
Each electoral district has a Returning Office which coordinates the election for the district. Each Returning Office is staffed with a Returning Officer, an Election Clerk and a Special Ballot Officer. A listing of Returning Offices and contact information will be
publicized by October 9, 2015

A person is eligible to vote if he/she is:
** a Canadian Citizen;
** at least 18 years of age;
** a resident of the Province the day before polling day;
** a resident of the district on polling day.
A qualified elector may vote even if his/her name is not on the voters list. He/she will have to take an oath and produce the necessary identification at the polling station.

Are you on the Voters List? :
Elections Newfoundland and Labrador is updating the voters list on a continuous basis. As well, new provincial electoral boundaries are in effect for the November 30 Provincial General Election.

Remember, the deadline to be added to the list is Monday, November 23, 2015 at 8:00 pm.

What voting methods are available :

Qualified electors have three voting methods available to them:
1. Voting at the Regular Polls
2. Voting at the Advance Polls
3. Voting by Special Ballot
** Voting at the regular polls will take place on Monday, November 30, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 pm.
** Voting at the advance polls will take place on Monday, November 23, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 pm.
** Special Ballot voting is available to electors who feel that they will be unable to vote in person at either the regular or advance polls. Special Ballot voting begins province-wide on Tuesday, October 13, 2015.
** All registered electors in the province will receive a Voter Information Card, detailing where and when to vote (not suitable for ID at the polls). For non-registered electors, the same information will be available on ENL’s website
** Electors can also call ENL headquarters to determine their voting locations (1-877-729-7987)

What voting methods are available :

** Special Ballot voting is a method of voting that allows any qualified elector to vote, beginning as early as four weeks prior to the election call (Elections Act, 1991, sect. 86). Electors who are interested in Special Ballot voting must apply to do so, keeping in mind that Special Ballot voting is a very time sensitive process that has important dates and deadlines associated with it.
** The deadline to apply for a Special Ballot is Monday, November 23, 2015 at 6:00 pm.
** The deadline for receipt of a completed Special Ballot kit at any of the district Returning Of?ces is Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 4:00 pm.
** The deadline for receipt of a completed Special Ballot kit at ENL headquarters is Thursday, November 26, 2015 at 4:00 pm.
** It is the responsibility of electors to meet all established deadlines.
** Late ballots cannot be accepted.

What if I need assistance voting :

** Elections Newfoundland and Labrador’s polling station workers are appointed and sworn officials who are able to provide electors with assistance with casting their ballots at the polls.
** Additionally, an elector can obtain assistance from a friend that accompanies him/her to the polling station (the friend must take an oath and may help only one elector, one time).

Time of to Vote :

** Electors working on polling day, November 30, 2015, are entitled to four consecutive hours to vote while the polls are open (from 8:00 am. to 8:00 pm).
** If work hours do not allow for a total of four consecutive hours, the employer is required to provide enough time (at his/her convenience) to ensure that these hours are made available without a reduction in pay.
** Employees must make arrangements with their employers in advance of polling day to arrange time off to vote

Deadline to be Added to the Voters List: Monday, November 23,2015 at 8:00 pm.
Advance Poll: Monday, November 23, 2015 from 8 am. – 8 pm.
Deadline to Apply for Special Ballot Voting: Monday, November 23,2015 at 6 pm.
Deadline for Receipt of Completed Special Ballots at Returning Office: Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 4 pm.
Deadline for Receipt of Completed Special Ballots at ENL: Thursday, November 26, 2015 at 4 pm.
Election Day: Monday, November 30, 2015 from 8 am. – 8 pm
