Off-site voting :
Voters unable to come to the polling station for health reasons, caregivers of these voters and caregivers of ill persons may apply for off-site voting. Requests for off-site voting may be submitted between 29 September and 4 October to the nearest polling station.

The following information must be provided in the application :
1) name and surname,
2) ID number,
3) the reason of the necessity of voting at the place where the voter is located,
4) an exact address where the polling station commission must arrive.

** It is advisable to indicate also the entry code of the building if there is such one and the phone number which the polling station commission can use to contact the voter in problem situations;
** Any trustee of the voter – a relative, friend, postman, social carer or neighbour – may bring the submission to the polling station.
** A trustee of the voter may write an application with the voter’s request for voting at home also at the polling station. In such a case, the name and surname of the trustee must also be indicated in the application.

Voter’s identification document – passport :
A valid Latvian citizen’s passport is necessary to vote in the 12th Saeima elections. Voters who do not have a passport, but only an electronic identity card (eID) have to obtain the voter card to participate in the 12th Saeima elections. More information on this possibility is available here>>

Why a passport is important in the Saeima elections? :
The Electoral Register is not used for registration of voters in the Saeima elections, and, on election day, voters can vote at any nearest polling station of their choice. In order to ensure the principle “one voter – one vote”, a mark about participation in elections is made in the voter’s passport (the passport is stamped) at the polling station.

What to do if a passport has expired? :
** Documents to apply for a passport are submitted and the passport is issued at the territorial section of the OCMA irrespective of the declared place of residence.
** A passport is issued within 10 days or according to the accelerated procedure – within two or five days (excluding the day when the documents were submitted).
** The fee for issuing a passport within 10 working days is EUR 28, 46, for issuing a passport within two working days – EUR 56, 91.
** Information line – +371 67219244.
