What happens if only one candidate is Nominated for an Election at the close of Nomination?
He/She shall be declared unopposed and therefore Elected
What Is Nomination?
Nomination is a part of the process of selecting a candidate for elective post by political parties.
Will the registration process be observed by Party Agents?
Yes, each party with full registration will be allowed to have one Agent to monitor registration process in each center
What happens if a person registers more than once?
It is an offense for a person to register more than once and he/she will be impeached.
Who is Disqualified from being a Registered Voter?
Any person who has citizenship of another country
** Sentenced to imprisonment for a term exceeding six months
** Sentenced to death by any court in Tanzania
** Declared of unsound mind
What are the requirements to Register as a Voter?
No supporting Document is needed in Registration, however the existing Voter with the previous Voters card are required to submit his/her card to ease the Registration process.
Where do you Register as a Voter?
In the registration center near your Residential area
When can one Register as a Voter?
The period for registration in your respective area will be announced by NEC through Electronic and printed Media
Who should Register as a Voter?
Any Tanzania citizen who has attained the age of 18 or above or who will attain the age of 18 by October 2015 qualifies to register as a voter.
Why should you Register as a Voter?
** To be able to exercise your right to vote on Referendum and Election day
** To be able to participate in the governance of your country.
Why Register by Bio metric Voter Registration?
** The Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) system which was used before was found to be out dated technology and is difficult to maintain.
** The Bio-metric features captured are used for validation purpose hence minimizing Duplication.
** Durable voter’s card.
What kind of Elections are conducted by The National Electoral Commission of Tanzania?
** Presidential Election
** Parliamentary Election
** Councilors Elections for Mainland.
What are the functions of National Electoral Commission?
Tume ya Taifa ya Uchaguzi (NEC) ina majukumu yafuatayo:
(a) Kusimamia na Kuendesha Uandikishaji wa Wapiga Kura kwa ajili ya Uchaguzi wa Rais na Wabunge katika Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania.
(b) Kusimamia na Kuendesha Uchaguzi wa Rais na Wabunge katika Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania.
(c) Kupitia na Kugawa Mipaka ya Jamhuri ya Muungano katika Majimbo mbali mbali ya Uchaguzi wa Wabunge.
(d) Kusimamia na Kuendesha Uandikishaji wa Wapiga Kura na kuendesha Uchaguzi wa Madiwani Tanzania Bara.
(e) Kutangaza matokeo ya Viti Maalum vya wanawake vya Ubunge na Udiwani. ;
(f) Kutoa Elimu ya Mpiga Kura na kusimamia Watu na Asasi zitakazohusika katika Kutoa Elimu hiyo.
(g) Kutekeleza Majukumu mengine yatokanayo na Sheria itakayotungwa na Bunge.
