How To Search Voter?

Just follow the simple steps mentioned below to search the voter online.

Search Using Voter Numbers

Step-1 : Go to the link https://www.ec.or.ug/search/byid/
Step-2 : Enter the Voter Number (or) Application ID (or) National ID Number (NIN)
Step-3 : Enter the Security Code
Step-4 : Submit the “Search” button.

Search By Voter Details

Step-1 : Go to the link ec.or.ug
Step-2 : Enter the Surname
Step-3 : Enter the Firstname
Step-4 : Enter/ Select the Date of Birth
Step-5 : Select the District Registered In
Step-6 : Enter the Security Code
Step-7 : Submit the “Search” button.

Where & How To Vote?
You must be on the electoral register to vote in elections and referenda and this is done by registering and you should be 18 years by the close of the update Exercise conducted by the Electoral Commission.

Thus, when a Voters’ roll for each polling station in a parish has been compiled and only persons whose names appear on the roll are entitled to vote at an election (Section 19(12) Electoral Commission Act 1997).

Establishment and Mandate of the Electoral Commission:
The Electoral Commission is established under Article 60 and mandated under Article 61 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda 1995 (as amended) to organise, conduct and supervise regular, free and fair elections and referenda, among other functions. In order to fulfill its mandate, the Commission is guided by its mission and vision.

The Commission’s mission is to organise and conduct regular, free and fair elections and referenda professionally, impartially and efficiently; while its vision is to be a model institution and centre of excellence in Election Management.

About Electoral Commission:
The Electoral Commission was set up under Article 60 of the 1995 Constitution of The Republic of Uganda. It consists of the Chairman, Deputy Chairperson and five other members appointed by the President with the approval of Parliament and a Secretariat headed by the Secretary.

Details covering The Commissions establishment and mandate can be accessed in Articles 60 to 67 inclusive.

Activities of the Electoral Commission :
1. Organising, conducting and supervising various elections and referenda;
2. Compiling, maintaining, revising and updating:
a) The National Voters’ Register on a continuous basis
b) The various registers for Special Interest Groups
3. Producing and issuing voters’ cards;
4. Compiling and updating the various Voters’ Registers for Special Interest Groups and Administrative units;
5. Developing effective civic education programmes related to elections;
6. Reviewing all electoral laws in order to come up with appropriate recommendations on amendments;
7. Recruiting qualified personnel and training them in the management of elections;
8. Hearing and determining election complaints arising before and during polling; and
9. Demarcating of constituencies and electoral area
