In some cases, you may be asked to provide the number from your driver’s licence or provincial/territorial ID card. If you do not have the applicable identification, you can complete a printable form on this site and mail it to Elections Canada.

Privacy and Security :

** Your personal information is protected under the Privacy Act. Please consult the Privacy Notice for more information on the collection, use and protection of your personal information.
** As part of its security measures, Elections Canada captures the Internet Protocol (IP) address of computers used to access the Online Elector Registration Service to enable follow-up and verification.

Canadian Forces Electors Homepage :
What Is a Canadian Forces (CF) Elector? :
A CF elector is a Canadian citizen, 18 years of age or older on civilian polling day, who is:
** a member of the Regular Force of the CF
** a member of the Reserve Force of the CF on full-time training or service or on active service
** a member of the Special Force of the CF
** a civilian employed outside Canada by the CF as a teacher or administrative support staff in a CF school

Statement of Ordinary Residence :
To vote under the Special Voting Rules for CF electors, you must complete a Statement of Ordinary Residence (SOR). Once completed, the SOR entitles you to vote by special ballot at a polling station set up in your unit, wherever you may be stationed in Canada or abroad.

Voting by Mail While Inside or Outside Canada :
Register to Vote by Special Ballot : (Vote by Mail)
** Eligible Canadian electors may apply to vote by special ballot. With a special ballot, you can vote by mail from anywhere in the world.
** If you live in Canada, you must wait until an election is called before you can apply to vote by special ballot.
** If you live abroad and you meet certain criteria, you may apply at any time to be added to the International Register of Electors. When an election is called, Elections Canada mails a special ballot voting kit to all eligible electors in the International Register.
** To apply to be added to the International Register and vote by special ballot, please answer a few questions. Based on your answers, we will provide information and an application form. Complete this form and submit it (with supporting documents) by fax, mail or courier.
** New – As a result of a recent court decision on the ”five-year rule” in the Canada Elections Act, we have updated the application form for Canadians residing abroad. Now, any Canadian citizen aged 18 or older who resides abroad may apply to be added to the International Register of Electors and to vote by mail-in special ballot in federal general elections, by-elections and referendums, provided they have at some point resided in Canada.
