Voting is Accessible in Idaho :
Idaho has several options for accessible voting. Contact your county clerk for detailed information on all accessible voting options including instructions on how to request an absentee ballot.

On Election Day Polling Places are Accessible :
Counties in Idaho provide a clear path of travel and other accommodations to assure access to their polling places. Accessible voting booths and voter assistance terminals are available for voters who may have difficulty seeing or marking a ballot.

Voting with the Assistance of a Person of the Voter’s Choice :
Electors may receive assistance to vote from any person of their choice. Voters may also ask for assistance from a poll worker.

Absentee Voting By Mail :
In previous elections many electors with special needs have requested an absentee ballot from their county clerk. You may vote absentee by mail after submitting a completed and signed request for an absentee ballot. The request for an absentee ballot must be received in your county clerk’s office by the 6th day prior to the election. Upon verification of your registration, an absentee ballot will be mailed to you. Your absentee ballot must be returned to the county clerk on or before Election Day.

Early Voting or In-Person Absentee Voting Before Election Day :
Voting before Election Day at an absentee polling place is also an accessible voting option. Contact your county clerk for the dates, location and times Early Voting or Absentee in-Person voting is available at the absentee polling place in your county.

Special Circumstances :
Curbside assistance and home voting is available in special circumstances. Please make arrangements with your county clerk in advance.

Accessible Voter Assistance Terminals at the Polls :
** In compliance with the Help America Vote Act, a voter assistance terminal is available in every polling place in Idaho.
** A voter assistance terminal can assist voters to vote privately and independently, especially those voters that have difficulty seeing or marking a ballot.
** Visually impaired voters can use headphones to listen to an audio ballot and make their vote selections on a touch screen or on a Braille keypad.
** A voter assistance terminal also has a zoom feature to enlarge the ballot print and also a contrast feature to make the ballot easier to read for some voters.
** Voters can review and change their selections on a voter assistance terminal, just like any other voter, and voters may request a new ballot from a poll worker if they make a mistake.
** Votes are counted by the county Election Board in the same manner as all other ballots.

** Poll workers are trained to assist voters when asked for assistance.
