EDW Application Procedure :

Applying to work on Election Day is pretty simple. Visit the nearest Constituency Office or the Head Office to complete an application form.

Frequently Asked Questions :
1. What qualifications do I need to become an Election Day worker?
You must be at least 17 years old, be literate – able to read and write well -, be honest, willing to attend training, willing to work.
We also require that you have a Tax Registration Number (TRN).

2. Do I have a choice in where I work on Election Day?
** Yes and no. You can indicate the constituency and general area in which you wish to work, and this will be honored as far as possible, but the final placement in that constituency and area will be done by the Returning Officer.
** For Specialist Election Day Workers, who will be selected from among those who indicate a willingness to be placed at the discretion of the EOJ, the placement will usually be in another constituency or area other that your area of residence, and this placement will be done by the EOJ.

3. What training will I receive?
** Each election day Worker will receive a minimum of four 3-hour training sessions, over a two or three week period.
** On successful completion, you will be able to discharge the duties of an election day worker properly and efficiently.

4. Will I receive any remuneration for working?
Yes. Each person who works on election day will receive a stipend for working on the day, plus an additional stipend for having attended the training courses.

5. I worked in a previous election. Do I need to go through the training again?
Yes, all persons who intend, and are selected, to work on Election Day must undergo the full training course now being given.

6. How do I become an Election Day Worker?
** Go to the nearest EOJ Constituency Office, where the Returning Officer will have the appropriate application form for you to fill out and sign.
** You will be contacted shortly thereafter regarding training for Election Day Workers.

7. What is a Specialist Election Day Worker?
** Specialist Election Day Workers are assigned to those constituencies and polling stations where it is desired to have persons from outside the area undertake the conduct of the Election Day process.
** Specialist Election Day Workers are chosen from among those persons who have indicated to the EOJ a willingness to be placed in any constituency or polling station, as selected at the discretion of the EOJ.
** Persons so selected will be transported and escorted in and out of the polling station before and after voting is undertaken.
** As for all polling stations island wide, adequate security measures and personnel will be provided throughout the day.
