Presidential Election :

** On September 9, 2016 was the meeting of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan, led by its Chairman Mirza-Ulugbek Abdusalomov.

** The meeting was attended by members of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan, heads of political parties and the representatives of mass media.
** The meeting began with a minute’s silence in memory of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.

** In accordance with Articles 96, 117 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Article 8 of the Law “On elections of the President of Uzbekistan”, Articles 5 and 9 of the Law “On the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan” the decision on determination the 4 December, 2016 Sunday as a day of elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

** In this regard, the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan announced the commencement of election campaign for the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 9 September of this year.
** Also at a meeting of the Central Election Commission was approved the program of the main activities on preparation and holding of elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

** During the meeting it was noted that all the activities related to the preparation and holding of elections are carried out by the Central Election Commission, election commissions openly and publicly, in full accordance with the Law “On elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.

** The Central Election Commission also adopted a resolution on the formation of the Republican press center on covering the election of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which is located at: city of Tashkent, Navoi str., 16.

Voter :
** All citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan shall have the right to participate in the management and administration of public and state affairs, both directly and through representation. They may exercise this right though participation in referendums, electing the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and representative bodies of the power.

** All citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan shall have equal rights and freedoms, and shall be equal before the law, without discrimination by sex, race, nationality, language, religion, social origin, convictions, individual and social status.

** All citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan are guaranteed the equal right to vote. Every citizen shall have only one vote. All citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan under the age of 18 shall be eligible to vote.

** Any citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan who has reached the age of 35, is in full command of the state language and has permanently resided in Uzbekistan for at least 10 years, immediately preceding the elections, shall be eligible for the post of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

** All citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan who have reached the age of 25 by election day and permanently residing in Uzbekistan for at least 5 years, shall be eligible for election to the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

** All citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan who have reached the age of 25 by election day and permanently residing in Uzbekistan for at least 5 years, shall be eligible for election to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Jokargi Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and representative bodies of power in places.

** All citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan who have reached the age of 21 by election day and permanently residing in Uzbekistan for at least 5 years, shall be eligible for election to the local representative bodies of power.

** All citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan shall have rights to participate in referendums, elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and representative bodies of the power irrespective of their location.

** Voters shall have the right to freedom of expression and secret ballot. The local election commissions, organizing the vote in specially allocated premises, shall provide opportunities for citizens to free and secret expression.

** Control over the will of voters is prohibited.
** Each voter could be included only in one list of voters.
** Voters are provided in advance to see a list of voters in the premises of the local election commission.

** The voter has the right to disclaim a polling station over the error or inaccuracies in the voter list. Polling station shall check the statement and either remove the error or provide the applicant a certificate of a reasoned rejection of the claim within twenty-four hours.
